Be Your Own Superhero!!!

Who hasn't wanted to be a superhero at one time in their life??

Instead of buying your kid a pre-made Superman or Spiderman costume?? Why not buy them a kit so they can design their own cape.  I love this kit, it comes with everything you need to design your own cape; felt, glue, stars, glitter, design ideas...

This kit can be found at Flora and Henri, and is a great last minute holiday gift...or rainy day activity!!!

You Know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer....

This is what we will be doing today...or a version of it!!

This is a craft that I found on the Disney Family Fun site.  It is a great for all ages.  With the younger ones (like my son), it is a fun way to remember how little their hands once were.  Obviously Mom and Dad will be decorating the reindeer for the little ones.  Older children will have a fun time decorating their own reindeer.

I plan on making these on felt instead of construction paper.  I also plan on turning mine into an ornament, and writing the date on the back.  I figured I could do my son's first 8 Christmases, and on his 8th Christmas we would have Santa's full reindeer team:)  There are a lot of other upgrades you could do:  You could make them on leather, make their collar out of leather, put Swarovski crystals or bells on the collar, add synthetic hair, make the antlers from sticks...I could go on forever.

The best part of crafting, is putting your own twist on it.

Have a fun day crafting!!  Share your finished products on our Facebook page.  The most creative one will win a prize!!! (post them by  12/13 )

All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers...

I recently discovered a kids clothing line named Lazoo, which I love.  Originating out of Japan, it is a line based on imagination and encouraging your kids to strive for whatever they want in life.  Their clothes are whimsical, and most feature one of their featured characters (which they refer to as their cast...I personally am partial to Takumi (seen above), a dinosaur that loves to build things instead of destroy them).

My two favorite things to buy my son are clothes and books...this store has a great collection of both.  I love that the clothes they have inspire kids to read, and make up their own stories about what is going on in the image on their shirt!!  Too many of the items these days do the imagination for them:(

Their stuff is cute, and encourages individuality!!  How can you go wrong??!!

Lazoo currently has a promotion with People Magazine, where you can get 20% off of your order.  Just enter code People20 at checkout.

Little Orso Book Shelf

Today we wanted to share one of our favorite book series.

They are the Finger Puppet Books, from Chronicle.  The books are made of thick cardboard, and there is a felt finger puppet that goes through the center of the book.  The puppet follows you on every page of the book. My son loves when the puppet tells the story, and moves around the page.  He also loves that the puppet seems to know his name:)

We started with the "Little Puppy", but quickly moved on to additional books.  Titles include; "The Little Reindeer" , "Little Turkey", Little Giraffe", Little Duck....  They retail for about $6, and are worth picking up.

They would make a great stocking stuffer, or travel distraction this holiday season!!

Our Elf Arrives a Little Early??!!

Everyone told me to wait until my son was older to buy him the Elf on the Shelf.

For those of you that do not know what the Elf on the Shelf is...

It is a recent Christmas tradition, where an elf comes to stay at your house for the weeks up to Christmas.  The elf watches your kids, and then every night returns to the North Pole to report to Santa.  Every morning the elf is in a new place, and your children need to find him.  However they can not touch the elf, because if they do he will lose his magic!!  Parents have started adding a new fun twist to the mornings, by putting the elves in hilarious poses and situations.  I can't wait for my son to get older, so I can come up with wacky things for our elf to do.

I know my son does not understand any of this yet, but I thought it would be fun for our elf (we named him C. Cane) to arrive for his first Christmas.  I have also decided to take a bunch of pictures, with the elf in the background. I figured I could make an album with all of the elf visits in it.  When my son gets older, I can show him that his elf has been coming to visit since his first Christmas.

Snug as a bug!!!

I have had my eye on these cute sleeping bags for a long time!!  They come from Pottery Barn Kids, and have sherpa exteriors.  They have other sleeping bags at Pottery Barn Kids, but the sherpa ones come in two designs Moose and Polar Bear.  Their interiors are just as cute as the exterior...The Polar Bear is a grey and white check, and the moose is red and white check. These are not just for little ones, they also come in extra large size 26" wide x 59" long.  I could fit in that one!!!

The best part is you can have them personalized!!  I love putting initials and names on everything!!

The reason I am sharing these today, is because they are 20% off for today only.  They are still a little pricey for a kids sleeping bag, but so worth it.  Not only can they use them for sleepovers, but also when they want to sleep in your room, under the Christmas tree, to cuddle and watch a movie in, and just to play fort in their room.   I would suggest getting the extra large one, so that way they have years to grow into them!!  Now I just have to decide which one to order my son!!

Bundle these up with a stuffed animal, book, or slippers, and you have the best gift under the tree!!

Environmentally Friendly And Still Cute

Today I am sharing a new company that I stumbled upon, when looking for new sippy cups for my son. Lifefactory is a company that makes BPA free bottles, sippy cups and teethers.  Their stuff is safe and chemical free, yet also so stylish.

My personal favorite is their silicone teether.  They come in such cute colors, and actually look like stylish bracelets when worn by mommy. They have four types of knobs on them, which makes them very appealing to those teething.

Check them out today!!  They even have stylish bottles for adults!!  I am thinking of making us that cheesy family that all has matching water bottles;)
